Senior Java Software Engineer

Stefanini is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our client’s B2BCore portfolio team, working on a brand new technical platform that provides core capabilities — including authentication, authorisation, user management, messaging, notifications, payments, frontend platform and data platform — for our client’s product teams. The role is suited to an experienced engineer with strong architectural awareness and a passion for clean, testable code.
- Work model: remote from any location in Portugal;
- Role duration: 6 months;

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality Java-based microservices within a cloud-native, containerised environment;
- Apply architectural design patterns and coding principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, GRASP, Clean Code);
- Work with Apache Kafka for event-driven solutions;
- Write and maintain SQL queries using PostgreSQL-compatible AuroraDB;
- Contribute to and support CI/CD pipeline practices;
- Apply Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Test Driven Development (TDD) approaches;
- Support and contribute to the Test Pyramid — Unit, Component, Integration and E2E testing;
- Coach and support junior team members;
- Work with Infrastructure as Code tooling; Skills & Experience Required Essential:
- 4+ years of experience in Java development, across at least 3 projects;
- Strong knowledge of Java 17+ in a containerised environment;
- Strong knowledge of Spring frameworks;
- Experience designing and building Microservice architectures;
- Experience working with Apache Kafka;
- Knowledge of architecture design patterns and coding principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, GRASP, Clean Code);
- Experience with public cloud services (AWS preferred);
- Strong understanding of the Test Pyramid (Unit, Component, Integration, E2E);
- Experience with SQL — PostgreSQL/AuroraDB;
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices;
- Knowledge of DDD and TDD;
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (ideally Terraform);
- Experience coaching team members;
- English written/spoken fluency; Desirable
- Knowledge of monitoring and alerting setup (Datadog preferred);
- Experience with system/project design practices — Event Storming, Story Mapping, C4;
- Knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools — Datadog, Dynatrace;
- Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB;
- Knowledge of BDD;
- Practical Terraform experience;
- Experience with Event Sourcing and Event Streaming;
- Familiarity with Event Driven Architectures;
- Familiarity with Service Mesh — ideally Hashicorp Consul and Hashicorp Nomad; The preceding
