We're looking for a Backend Developer with deep database expertise to join our innovative team at Altar. You'll work on cutting-edge projects across various industries, collaborating with entrepreneurs and business leaders from companies like YouTube, HSBC, and Coca-Cola.

With us, you'll not be alone working in these cutting-edge technologies. You'll be among a cross-functional team of seasoned Altarions with expertise in a multitude of sectors, from fintech and marketplace to AI and IoT.

What you'll be doing:

As a Backend Developer & Data Specialist, you'll:

1. Design and develop microservices and REST/GraphQL APIs;
2. Architect and implement database solutions across multiple paradigms;
3. Optimize database performance and query efficiency;
4. Create and maintain ETL pipelines;
5. Implement data migration strategies.

The hands-on experience we need you to bring to the table:

1. 3+ years as a Backend Developer with either Python, Golang, or Node.js/Express.js;
2. Some experience with multiple database types:

- Relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- LLM frameworks
- Document (MongoDB)
- Vector DBs (examples: Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate, Qdrant, Chroma, FAISS (Meta), Vespa, pgvector)
- Graph DBs
- Search engines (Elasticsearch)
- In-memory (Redis)
- Time-series
- Ledger databases

- Practical knowledge of:

- Database optimization techniques
- Sharding and partitioning
- Views and triggers
- Backup/restore procedures
- ETL processes

- Experience with microservices architecture;
- Fluency in both written and spoken English;
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure);
- Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes;
- Familiarity with data lakes;
- Experience with monitoring tools;
- CI/CD pipeline expertise.

Our recruitment process:

3. Tech Challenge (from home, 5-day deadline)
4. Tech Interview w/ our CTO (60 min)
5. Final interview w/ our CEO (~60min)
