Application Security Engineer

Job Overview
Cloudflare Professional Services is looking for an Application Security Engineer to work on enterprise customer implementations and migrations. The role is an individual contributor responsible for executing technical solutions, providing guidance, and ensuring customers realize the value of Cloudflare’s products.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver timely and organized services for customers.
- Gather business and technical requirements, use cases, and build solutions for the customer.
- Produce solution design, high‑level design, low‑level design, test plans, deployment plans, migration plans, and other deliverables.
- Implement changes in the Cloudflare environment following the customer’s change management process.
- Provide guidance to customers on configuring CPEs and integration points.
- Troubleshoot implementation issues and collaborate with Customer Support, Engineering, and other teams.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and best‑practice development.
- Build operational assets such as templates, automation scripts, procedures, and workflows.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a customer‑facing technical role (Customer Engineer, Security Engineer, Implementation Engineer, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of OSI layers and protocols (TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP).
- Experience with Internet and security technologies such as DDoS protection, WAF, Bot Management, Rate Limiting, TLS, and certificates.
- Proficiency in a scripting language (Python, JavaScript, Bash) and willingness to deepen those skills.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
- Strong experience working with APIs.
- Project management skills, ability to work to deadlines and prioritize competing demands.
- Work performed in English; fluency in a second European language is an advantage.
Additional Requirements
- Work hours: Monday‑Friday 09:00 a.m.‑6:00 p.m.; occasional weekend support may be required.
- Travel expected around 30 %.
- May require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws.
- Work performed in English.
