The company is continuing to grow its international engineering capability and is looking for talented Java Developers to join its team in Porto. We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join our engineering team in Porto. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality Java applications and services, working closely with other developers, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a collaborative engineering environment, with a strong focus on clean code, performance, scalability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications and backend services.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Work with the wider engineering team to design and implement new features.
- Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues.
- Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality.
- Contribute to improving development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and other technical teams.
- Keep up to date with modern Java technologies, frameworks, and best practices.

Requirements:
- Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
- Good understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with automated testing and development best practices.
- Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. Desirable:
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
