Credit & Collections Specialist (German Speaker)
We are looking for a credit & collections specialist to join our Financial teams in Portugal. Your role will focus on accelerating payments, resolving non‑payment issues, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
What will you do?
- Increase the speed at which customers’ open items are paid.
- Work closely with customers and internal teams to solve the non‑payment root cause.
- Manage customer relationships, including problem resolution and root‑cause analysis.
- Drive the collection process/workflow to follow up on overdue items on time.
- Understand non‑payment impact on business activity to anticipate and/or raise escalation if needed.
- Proactively track and collect trade debts.
- Provide visibility, support, and follow‑up for disputed invoices.
- Understand customer invoice approval flow and timelines for payment runs.
- Identify and highlight end‑to‑end process improvements when inefficiencies exist.
- Support ongoing technological project improvements/solutions.
- Provide the most accurate status for overdue items.
- Forecast expected payment for the open items in scope.
- Start when invoices are delivered to the customer’s premises.
- Deliver accurate reporting to Business and Operations.
- Follow up on any request or query from a customer or internal team.
- Work very closely with the R&A (receive and apply) team.
What you'll need to succeed?
- University degree (preferred in Finance, Accounting, Management or similar).
- Relevant work experience in collections or credit management, shared service centers, accounting, or business area.
- SAP or other accounting ERP skills (a plus).
- Good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and customer‑focus orientation.
- Fluent in English and German (mandatory).
- Experience with MS Outlook (rules, templates, quick steps).
- MS Excel (Power BI, Query, and/or VBA skills are a plus).
- MS PowerPoint and Word skills.
- Prioritisation and organisation skills.
- Business orientation (credit and collections, billing, payment allocations, sales and operations).
