We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team under the SMARTgNOSTICS Agenda funded by the PRR framework. The candidate will contribute to the development of protocols for bioanalyte concentration and detection using optical sensors, microfluidic devices, and magnetic-based sample preparation techniques, applied to clinically relevant matrices. Job Duties - Develop and optimise protocols for bioanalyte detection using optical biosensing platforms. - Assist in the operation and testing of microfluidic devices for sample handling and analysis. - Perform magnetic-based sample preparation and bioanalyte concentration from relevant matrices (e.g., biological samples). Mandatory Qualifications Education - BSc in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on Optofluidic Systems. Experience and Technical Skills - Experience with magnetic-based sample preparation and target preconcentration. - Hands‑on testing of microfluidic systems. - Practical skills in optical techniques for target detection. Other Valued Skills and Qualifications - MSc in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on Optofluidic Systems. - Experience in handling and processing clinical samples (e.g., blood). - Familiarity with optofluidic lab‑on‑chip platforms. Personal Skills - Creativity, and ability to work independently in an exploratory research environment. - Ability to team up with the researchers and engineers who are currently running the project. - "Hands‑on" approach together with a high commitment in respecting working deadlines. - Problem solving ability. - Good communication skills.
