Automation Engineer

Position Description: . Your future duties and responsibilities: Main Tasks and Responsibilities . Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts, while also training colleagues. . Project scoping responsibilities: – Define the automation test strategy and perform test management. – Plan the rollout of automated test scripts. – Estimate budget and timeframe for test automation. – Assess return on investment. – Conduct proof of concept (POC) to evaluate technical feasibility of automation for applications. . Development and execution of automated test scripts: – Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate test scenarios into Gherkin, ensuring alignment with business requirements. – Facilitate "3 amigos" sessions. – Develop and maintain API automated test scripts using KARATE. – Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated tests into existing CI/CD pipelines or create new pipelines with Jenkins/GitLab CI. – Set up and maintain automated testing infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes to ensure portability and reproducibility. – Debug test execution issues. – Continuously improve automated test frameworks to enhance ROI, quality, and efficiency. – Analyse and document test results. – Provide input for Go/No-Go decisions. – Report risks related to delays or quality. – Provide regular feedback on project progress. . Training and knowledge sharing: – Train developers and junior testers on execution, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts for CI/CD. – Provide training on Gherkin. – Stay updated on best practices and emerging tools in test automation. . Norms and Standards: – Adhere to service culture values. – Respect departmental principles and test procedures. – Participate in workshops on methodologies and standards. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Technical Skills . Degree in Informatics or related fields. . Knowledge of project methodologies. . Familiarity with ISTQB principles and vocabulary. . Experience in application testing. . Minimum 2 years' experience in Test Automation. . Expertise in developing and maintaining API test scripts. . At least 2 years' experience with: Karate framework, Gherkin, Cucumber, Java, Maven, Jenkins, IntelliJ. . Knowledge of Postman, JSON. . Experience creating Docker images for test environments and CI/CD pipelines. . Experience with ALM Octane. . Ability to identify and follow up on risks.Nice to Have . SQL knowledge. .
