About Shadow Shadow is an AI-powered emotional companion that acts like a non-clinical psychologist in your pocket — a presence that listens, reflects, and helps people navigate emotional challenges without pressure or medication. Born from lived experience in a conflict zone, Shadow was created for the moments where traditional support isn’t accessible or immediate — when people need understanding more than solutions. It’s a new category of mental health support: grounded in therapy principles, enhanced by AI, and built for real-world use. Our mission is to redefine how mental health care is experienced — combining psychology, storytelling, and cutting-edge AI to offer quiet, reliable, deeply human support through technology. Role: CTO & Co-Founder Location: Remote Commitment: Full-Time Compensation: Equity-based (no salary until funding) What You'll Do Own and lead the entire technical strategy and execution of Shadow from zero to scale Architect, build, and maintain our AI-powered platform (web and mobile) Implement emotional intelligence in AI using LLMs, vector search, and memory systems Work closely with the founder on product design, roadmap, and growth Prototype quickly, iterate fast — bring a "launch now, fix later" mindset Ensure user privacy, ethical AI usage, and platform security from day one Build and eventually lead a small, focused, world-class technical team Stay ahead of advancements in AI and mental health tech — and implement them thoughtfully Ideal Background Proven experience as a CTO or senior technical lead , ideally in a startup Strong expertise in AI/ML , including: LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) LangChain, custom prompt frameworks, or agent design Vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate) Full-stack capabilities — from backend APIs to simple, beautiful user interfaces Strong understanding of data privacy, security , and ethical AI practices Comfortable building MVPs solo, deploying fast, and learning from users Bonus if you’ve worked on: Voice-based interactions Emotionally adaptive UX Mental health or wellness platforms Products with freemium monetization models Driven by impact, not ego.
