We are seeking a Data Engineer with experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our team in Lisbon. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable data processing across our cloud environment. This role involves close collaboration with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to transform raw data into actionable insights. Data Engineer Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows in GCP. Work with services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Composer (Airflow), and Vertex AI (optional). Implement and optimize data models, data lakes, and data warehouses. Ensure data quality, integrity, and security in all pipelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Scientists, Analysts, Product Managers) to deliver business-ready datasets. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance of pipelines and queries. Support CI/CD for data infrastructure and participate in code reviews. Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience. At least 2 years of professional experience in data engineering roles. Hands-on expertise with GCP data services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, etc.) Strong programming skills in Python, SQL. Experience with data orchestration tools. Good understanding of data modeling, database design, and warehouse/lakehouse principles. Knowledge with CI/CD practices and version control (Git). GCP Professional Data Engineer certification (or Associate Cloud Engineer) (good to have). Experience with real-time streaming pipelines (Pub/Sub, Kafka) is a plus. Exposure to DevOps practices and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager) (good to have). Knowledge of machine learning pipelines or MLOps is a plus. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Team player with collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
