With expertise in naval architecture and offshore engineering, the main objective is to ensure the reliable and efficient performance of mooring systems in varying environmental conditions.
This includes conducting hydrodynamic modelling studies, designing mooring systems, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mooring solutions into FOWT designs.
The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of industry standards, and effective communication to support the successful execution of Gazelle's projects.
Department Technology & Innovation Qualification level Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering Location Viana do Castelo, Portugal Professional experience 5 years of experience in naval architecture, hydrodynamics, or offshore engineering, with a focus on mooring system design and analysis and optimization.
Good technical knowledge of aero-hydrodynamic analysis software (Orca Flex, Deeplines Wind or similar), finite elements software (FEMAP or SESAM) is desirable, and Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
Must have a good working awareness of codes and standards in FOW or similar industry.
Specific experience with DNV or ABS standards will be a plus.
Demonstrated experience in hydrodynamic couple analysis, mooring system optimization, for offshore structures.
In-depth knowledge of mooring system design and analysis for offshore structures, including dynamic response and station-keeping strategies.
Specific professional specialization relevant Expertise in hydrodynamic analysis and modelling, including wave loading, current forces, and vessel motions, with a focus on FOWT platforms.
Proficiency in software tools used for hydrodynamic analysis and mooring system design, such as Orca Flex Deeplines Wind, ANSYS AQWA, and WAMIT.
In-depth knowledge of mooring system design principles, including selection of mooring components, layout optimization, and fatigue analysis.
Others requirements Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex hydrodynamic data and make sound engineering decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with offshore regulatory requirements, classification society rules, and industry guidelines applicable to mooring systems and floating structures.
Knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices related to offshore structures, including load transfer mechanisms and structural integrity considerations.
Experience with project management methodologies and tools, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute engineering activities within project schedules and budgets.
Multidisciplinary skills and good knowledge of cross functional disciplines.
Should demonstrate enthusiasm, be supportive and engaged with their team.
Fluency in English is required; Portuguese and/or Spanish is beneficial but not mandatory.
Activities/Functions Conduct hydrodynamic analysis and modelling studies to assess the dynamic behaviour of FOWT platforms and mooring systems under various environmental conditions.
Design and optimize mooring systems for FOWTs, considering factors such as platform stability, station-keeping performance, and fatigue life.
Perform dynamic response analysis of mooring systems to assess performance and reliability, including dynamic positioning (DP) and vessel motions.
Collaborate with structural engineers, naval architects, and other stakeholders to integrate mooring systems into overall FOWT designs and ensure compatibility with structural requirements.
Interface with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure mooring components and equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Conduct technical reviews and assessments of mooring system designs, including documentation and calculations, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.
Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during the engineering, construction, and installation phases of FOWT projects, addressing technical inquiries and resolving engineering issues as needed.
Stay informed about industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices in offshore wind energy and mooring system design, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.
General conditions Location: Based in our Viana do Castelo office.
Minimum 3 days per week in the office, ideally 4-5 days.
Contract & Working Hours: Permanent contract with an initial trial period.
40-hour work week.
22 days of vacation annually.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: €2,800 – €4,290 gross per month (based on experience), 14 salaries per year.
Food allowance: €9.60 per working day (approx.
€200 net per month, paid 11 times per year).
