Offer DescriptionCompetition is open for 3 scholarships for students who wish to develop research leading to a PhD degree. The research in Contemporary History
and International Relations will be conducted in Portugal, at the Diplomatic Institute, exploring the funds of the Diplomatic Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal produced between 1850 and 1996. The duration of the scholarship is annual, renewable for up to a maximum of four years. The research grants will be awarded under a cooperation agreement between the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Diplomatic Institute. They will be funded by the FCT using funds from the State Budget and, where eligible, using funds from the European Social Fund, through the Demography, Skills and Inclusion Programme (PDQI), in accordance with the regulatory provisions laid down for this purpose.

Candidates must show evidence of the relevance of the historical sources in the Diplomatic Archive and Library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to their
research.

Additional InformationThe scholarships will be paid by the Fundação da Ciência e Tecnologia, according to the value in force for doctoral scholarships at the date of signing
