Responsibilities:
- Migrate databases while collaborating with customers to understand their requirements and develop comprehensive migration strategies.
- Perform data migration tasks, including schema conversion, data transformation, and data loading, ensuring seamless migration with minimal disruption to operations.
- Optimize database performance before, during, and after the migration by identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Implement robust backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data during migration and conduct post-migration validation to ensure data integrity.
- Plan and execute database upgrades as part of the migration process, ensuring compatibility and stability of applications.
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- Professional experience as a Database Administrator.
- Experience and knowledge of different SQL Server versions.
- Knowledge of tools like Ola Hallengren.
- Understanding of reorganizing versus rebuilding indexes.
- Familiarity with statistics and updating statistics, backup/restore possibilities within SQL Server.
- Knowledge of recovery models of a database and the impact on backups and log files.
- Understanding of system databases: which exist and for what they are used.
- Familiarity with SQL agent: how it works, how to configure it, and its possibilities.
- Knowledge of TDE (transparent database encryption).
- Security: default Server roles, default database roles, application roles.
- Basic knowledge of high-availability solutions such as clustering, always on, mirroring, log-shipping.
- SQL development: T-SQL, stored procedures, scalar/table valued functions, error handling, common table expressions.
- Understanding of INNER versus OUTER JOIN versus CROSS JOIN, CROSS/OUTER APPLY.
- Transactions: commit and rollback, nested transactions.
- Knowledge of foreign keys, unique index versus primary key, data types and their importance.
- Certificates and signed objects in security.
- Understanding of indexes: clustered, non-clustered, covered index, filtered index.
- Knowledge of in-memory OLTP: tables and native stored procedures and functions.
- Understanding of indexed views: pros and cons.
- Familiarity with execution plans and the query store.
- Good level of English.
