Safety by Design in Green Hydrogen Projects

We are seeking a highly qualified Process Safety Engineer to join our team at SMARTENERGY Group AG. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the design of our green hydrogen and related e-Fuels projects prioritizes safety, minimizes risks, and adheres to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Main Responsibilities
  • You will develop and implement process safety strategies for hydrogen and derivatives plants, providing guidance to other project design members.
  • Perform qualitative risk assessments, preliminary sizing of fire-fighting facilities, and Hazardous Area Classification.
  • Support other technical disciplines in decision-making regarding equipment, building, and infrastructure sizing from a safety perspective.
  • Prepare documentation for local authorities, including fire and explosion analysis and qualitative and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Review and approve safety-related documentation prepared by third parties.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting design of safety installations and risk assessment for large-scale oil, gas, or petrochemical facilities.
  • Experience in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessments, Occupational safety, Hazards and Effects management.
  • Proficiency with DNV Phast/Safeti or Gexcon Effects software.
  • Excellent English communication skills and experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
