Job Description

Alphanumeric Systems Canada Ltd is seeking an experienced Freelance Medical Writer based in Portugal for project-based contract work. To be successful in this role, you will have an advanced degree within life sciences and experience in medical communications writing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating high-quality, scientifically accurate content in various standard medical communications deliverables. This may include creating and editing PowerPoint presentations, scientific manuscripts, standard response letters, and congress summary reports.

This role interacts with Swiss life-sciences organizations and requires experience working within that market. The selected candidate will collaborate with Alphanumeric team members and client leads to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and concise outlines, on-target first drafts, and proactively incorporate data/revisions as appropriate for high-quality content development as needed for assigned projects
  • Prioritize scientific accuracy, clarity, and ethics when creating, referencing, reviewing, or editing content
  • Write materials with tone and language appropriate for the target audience and ensure an effective story flow is in place

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of medical writing experience in a medical communications agency environment or in-house pharmaceutical company setting, or as a freelance writer; other types of relevant experience will be considered
  • Fluency in written German and English
  • Experience working with Swiss regulatory organizations
  • Being legally eligible to work as a freelancer in Portugal
  • PharmD or PhD; other life science degrees considered with relevant experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), the internet, and database searches (e.g., Pubmed)
  • Attention to detail to manage documents throughout the review process and to ensure revisions and comments are addressed across consistently deliverables
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with client leads
  • Has a working knowledge of standard compliance procedures and regulatory processes and works diligently to ensure content produced adheres to Alphanumeric and client standards
