We are seeking a collaborative and results-driven individual to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. Optimizing large volume production manufacturing solutions for new electrification products.
  2. Implementing manufacturing best practices and lessons learned into new designs.
  3. Leading process standard development, definition, documentation, and deployment.
  4. Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering teams: multi-regional Global team and plant team.
  5. Defining production Equipment specifications and the associated sourcing process.
  6. Coordinating machine projects with external suppliers, from design to qualification. Ensuring new Equipment meets specification, time, and budget.
  7. Providing support for production plant problem-solving in manufacturing.
  8. Overseeing process documentation release: PFD's, PFMEA's & PCP's and Control Plans.
  9. Guiding new business pursuits by providing estimates for manufacturing process and cost.
  10. Accountable for manufacturing solution from initial business case to production.
  11. Leading and developing flexible manufacturing systems specifications to meet internal & customer requirements.
  12. Leading equipment sourcing process and Machine Specifications.
  13. Driving manufacturing equipment development in accordance with project timing and business case assumptions.
  14. Working with Build Technicians on initial customer & validation samples.
  15. Assisting in training of production operators and maintenance personnel on production equipment.
  16. Focusing on product quality in the production systems.
  17. Technical lead for improving OEE - equipment overall effectiveness and identifying process improvements.
  18. Maintaining manufacturing excellence on all equipment.
  19. Collaborating in a team environment with Quality and Application Engineers on current production issues and future customer programs.
  20. Identifying safety equipment and providing safety training on production processes.
  21. Visiting suppliers to monitor development activities.
  22. Complying with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene, and environmental prevention standards.
  23. Complying with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice, and Schedule.
  24. Respecting workplace safety and cleanliness rules.
  25. Respecting and complying with environmental policy rules.

Requirements

  • Master of Sciences in Mechanical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering in automotive or mass production environment.
  • Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, PPAP, and AIAG Manufacturing requirements.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus).
  • Knowledge and exposure to some of the following technologies: automatic assembly, screw driving, air leak testing, laser welding, Siemens Step7 PLC control programming, robotics and vision applications will be a plus.
  • Ability to read and create comprehensive mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and schematics using specified software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Solid understanding of Engineering financials (Cap-Ex Planning and equipment costing).
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization.
