Job Description

The CNRS is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join their team as a Postdoctorate M/F Fr. This exciting opportunity will involve conducting research on the microstructure and viscoelastic properties of cementitious materials.

About the Role
  • Conduct independent experiments, including sample production and preparation at various scales.
  • Perform mineralogical and microstructural characterization using techniques such as SEM/EDS, XRD, NMR, Porosimetry (water, MIP), microtomography, and BET.
  • Carry out multiscale viscoelastic characterization at controlled humidity by Nanoindentation (phase scale / indentation matrix and statistical analysis to identify different modes); Microindentation at matrix scale (local characterization); Compression on cylinders at matrix scale (global characterization).
  • Analytical homogenization modeling to establish the link between microstructure and properties.
  • Write and publish scientific articles based on the results.
About the Team

The postdoc candidate will be integrated into a multi-disciplinary team in Toulouse, working closely with researchers from LMDC, CIRIMAT, and ICA. The main place of work will be the LMDC, but the candidate will be required to carry out experiments in the three laboratories under the supervision of researchers from these laboratories.

Requirements
  • PhD in the field of cementitious materials or mechanical surface characterization.
  • Experience in micro or nanoindentation would be desirable.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Highly motivated and committed to the project.
Benefits

This project is funded by the FERMaT federation under the 'Materials and their Applications' theme. It is part of a working group on methodological and scientific issues concerning the links between microstructure, environmental conditions, and macroscopic properties of cementitious materials for construction.

Salary

Estimated salary: €50,000 - €60,000 per year, depending on experience.
