Postdoctoral Researcher in Ceramic Matrix Composites

Cnrs seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join its Materials Engineering and Science Department.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on an 18-month collaborative project between MATEIS (UMR 5510, located at INSA Lyon) and the ICA (UMR 5312, located at IMT Mines Albi).
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for studying the thermomechanical behavior and damage of a ceramic matrix composite under development.
You will conduct instrumented thermomechanical tests on a composite with inorganic fibers and a geopolymer matrix, analyzing its damage using image correlation and acoustic emission techniques.
The objective of this study is to determine the potential of this type of composite for use at high temperatures and contribute to the optimization of its manufacturing and repairability.
To achieve this, you will address the following aspects:
1. Setting up and carrying out mechanical traction and bending tests at room temperature and high temperature
2. Conducting tests instrumented by image correlation and acoustic emission
3. Characterizing damage by microstructural observations under SEM and X-ray tomography
4. Finite element modeling of the mesostructure of the composite and its damage in connection with microstructural observations and macroscopic thermomechanical behavior
This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in materials science and engineering, with a competitive salary of €45,000 per year, taking into account the French cost of living and the level of expertise required for the position.
We are looking for a highly skilled researcher with expertise in experimental mechanical characterization of composites, microstructural observations and analyzes, correlation of digital images, and finite element modeling.
This postdoc is part of a collaborative project that aims to develop new materials and manufacturing methods for ceramic matrix composites, with applications in various industries.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science and engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
