Job Summary

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at ComplyAdvantage. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining server-side infrastructure that powers our applications.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, collaborating on feature product requirements, mentoring junior engineers, and driving best practices in software development. This role requires experience in building highly scalable systems and working in fast-paced agile environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the architecture of scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code primarily in Kotlin
  • Design and implement RESTful and/or gRPC APIs for internal and external consumption
  • Profile and tune backend services for performance and scalability under high loads
  • Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to align on project goals and timelines
  • Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of the codebase
  • Set up monitoring tools and practices (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and troubleshoot issues in production environments

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with a focus on building and scaling complex systems
  • Expertise in JVM-based programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Java) with Spring Framework
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)
  • Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and familiarity with gRPC
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of security best practices, including authentication, authorisation, and data protection
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka)
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code
  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
  • BSc/BA degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline OR relevant years of experience in required skills
