The Financial Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing financial reporting. This role involves working with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records and support strategic financial planning.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and financial reports in compliance with Portuguese accounting regulations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, accounts payable, and receivable to maintain financial health.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support business decision-making.
Regulatory Compliance & Taxation
  • VAT and Corporate Tax Filings: Oversee VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory tax filings, ensuring timely submission.
  • Auditor Liaison: Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Budget Development: Develop and manage budgets, providing regular financial forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Strategic Planning: Support senior management in strategic financial planning and investment decisions.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal financial controls to mitigate risks and ensure transparency.
  • Financial Reviews: Conduct periodic audits and financial reviews to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments such as HR, operations, and procurement to ensure proper financial planning and cost control.
  • External Partnerships: Communicate with external partners, including banks, auditors, and tax authorities, to facilitate financial operations.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior accountants, ensuring professional development and high-quality output.
  • Team Culture: Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment within the finance team.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
  • Accounting Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing in Portugal.
  • Tax Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Portuguese tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Additional Requirements: Prior experience in real estate, corporate finance, or multinational environments is a plus. Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory; additional languages are an asset.
