Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Lead Ruby on Rails Developer to spearhead the technical direction and success of our European projects, particularly focusing on platform integration. This pivotal role will utilize your expertise in Ruby on Rails, systems architecture, and design, as well as your exceptional leadership skills, to drive the delivery of high-quality code and solutions that make our CHL platform performant, secure, and user-friendly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive our current integration project, which involves building features from a Golang platform into our existing RoR platform, and ensure its successful integration with two companies.
  • Contribute to technical direction and decision-making processes, aligning with our overall business objectives in collaboration with your counterpart based in Australia.
  • Develop robust and scalable Ruby on Rails applications, adhering to best practices and coding standards, by breaking down requirements in accordance with our platform architecture.
  • Collaborate with our product management, UX, front-end, QA, and mobile teams to develop new features.
  • Write self-documented domain-driven, clean code and evolve our existing codebase.
  • Buildead and mentor a small team of RoR developers, promoting their growth and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, managing your team effectively.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Ruby on Rails development, with a proven track record of delivering successful web applications and working with Ruby on Rails monoliths.
  • Strong technical leadership skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team, managing projects, and driving technical decisions.
  • Sound understanding of web development principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Ability to contribute in remote cross-functional teams, prioritize tasks effectively, and have good time management skills.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and API-driven applications.
  • Good grasp of relational databases and comfortability with PSQL or similar.
  • Experience in building, leading, and managing a team of developers, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and ability to collaborate with front-end developers.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools.
  • Ideal experience with Docker, OpenSearch or ElasticSearch, and AWS or GCP infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good English language proficiency for international collaboration within our multilingual team.
  • The ideal candidate will be located in Portugal (Lisbon office), but we also consider candidates from Spain, the UK, or Germany.
