The Sustaining Engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a distributed team of engineers responsible for resolving software defects and improving our products. Your primary focus will be on the growth and development of your team members, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities.
The role involves:
- Leading and managing a geographically dispersed team of engineers.
- Hiring, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to team members.
- Developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and training programs.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver timely bug fixes, patches, and other technical solutions.
- Demonstrating excellence in customer interactions and setting expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
- Advancing modern software development practices and promoting a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with our company values.
Requirements:
- Professional experience in software delivery using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Strong knowledge of software development principles and methodologies.
- Leadership experience demonstrating ability to organize and prioritize complex problem-solving and bug fixing.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience with debugging tools like GDB, crash, or other.
- Commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of Linux, with a preference for Ubuntu.
- Understanding of Open Source and Open Source Business Models.
