**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
The Certified Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing financial reporting. The role involves working with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records and support strategic financial planning.

***KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES** (include but are not limited to)**:
**Financial Management**:

- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and financial reports in compliance with Portuguese accounting regulations.
- Monitor cash flow, accounts payable, and receivable to maintain financial health.
- Conduct financial analysis to support business decision-making.

**Regulatory Compliance & Taxation**:

- Ensure compliance with Portuguese GAAP (SNC - Sistema de Normalização Contabilística) and other relevant financial regulations.
- Oversee VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory tax filings, ensuring timely submission.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.

**Budgeting & Forecasting**:

- Develop and manage budgets, providing regular financial forecasts and variance analysis.
- Support senior management in strategic financial planning and investment decisions.

**Internal Controls & Risk Management**:

- Establish and maintain internal financial controls to mitigate risks and ensure transparency.
- Conduct periodic audits and financial reviews to ensure compliance and efficiency.

**Stakeholder Coordination**:

- Collaborate with internal departments such as HR, operations, and procurement to ensure proper financial planning and cost control.
- Communicate with external partners, including banks, auditors, and tax authorities, to facilitate financial operations.

**Team Leadership**:

- Supervise and mentor junior accountants, ensuring professional development and high-quality output.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment within the finance team.

**Requirements**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Accountant qualification (Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados - OCC) in Portugal is mandatory.

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing in Portugal.
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with financial software and ERP systems.
- Prior experience in real estate, corporate finance, or multinational environments is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory; additional languages are an asset.
