Principal Platform Architect

**What you’ll do**:
Within the world of Communication, technology is a key enabler. A consistent part of Vodafone success is based on the implementation and delivery of advanced and innovative services to its customers. Within Vodafone Group Technology, Fin Tech & Product Enablement has the responsibility to develop, deploy and operate strategic consumer services across the markets focussing on customer engagement, 3rd party integration for consumer services and identity solutions.
Vodafone ID is the central enabler across Vodafone markets and channels for Identity and Access Management (incl. Know Your Customer functionality) and biometrics. The Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) platform is used cross channel (mobile apps, web and IVR) by Vodafone and 3rd party services. With a Decentralized Digital Identity platform based on Distributed Ledger Technology Vodafone ID also provides a self-sovereign identity to customers (in Web3).
- Define, align and maintain the technology strategy for the Vodafone ID Platform
- Ability to interpret business challenges and technical issues and effectively communicate how a solution will align to their needs and requirements. Drives understanding of the big picture.
- Works in close cooperation with Technical and Commercial Product Owners, Vodafone Enterprise, local markets and partners; leading to the Technology strategy, High-Level Design and contributing to shared propositions.
- Enable solution opportunities by identifying the requirements directly from the Vodafone local markets/Partner markets or by proactively understanding their needs.
- Able to express complex concepts in plain language to reach broader audiences.
- Delivery of products and services - lead the design and delivery of respective portfolio as aligned with Group Commercial, local markets and partners. This design includes: Interfaces specification (APIs), Infrastructure architecture, Software architecture, Security design, Data models and analytics requirements to other services enablers, System management specific requirements and integration;
- Technical expert contribution to the technology selection process and make or buy decisions in synchronization with Technology standards.
- Represent Vodafone in standardisation and other industry forums regarding APIs

**Who you are**:

- Must have a balanced mix of comprehensive technical and business skills.
- Extensive experience in designing complex, distributed, secure and scalable architecture solutions
- Excellent Knowledge of enterprise solutions and architectures (i.e. cloud, big data, security, containerization, storage, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of architecture best practices and design patterns. These include: Micro-Services (or Self-Contained-Services), API definition (rest / soap / GraphQL) and API integration open programmes (including provisioning, login, charging and transaction), Security, Scalability, Cloud Services (e.g. K8s, AWS)
- Proven experience of conducting technical workshop, presenting technical solutions, preparing architecture guidelines and technical strategy documents.
- Familiar with design and development tools, and capable of suggesting new tools/process.
- Passionate about simple and clean SW architectures
- Should have a very good analytical, consultative and problem-solving mind-set, and an influential personality capable of quickly building rapport and credibility with teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to act as technical SPOC interacting with other teams, Vodafone markets and external partners
- Ability to lead development and make architectural and implementation decisions, in a distributed team
- Background in software development
- Capacity to learn and work independently
- Experience with API gateways
- Related qualification and proven experience in mobile technology, digital products or IT
- Master of Science in Mathematics & Computer Science or equivalent
- Deep knowledge and working experience of OAuth, OpenID Connect, WebAuthn, GSMA Mobile Connect and other standards for authentication and authorization.
- Deep knowledge of web-based and service based architectures (REST/SOAP/event-driven)
- Deep knowledge of web security standards
- Knowledge of cross platform architecture, technology and platforms
- Experienced in design and development of highly scalable, robust, efficient, distributed systems
- Experience of architecture and deploying service in public Clouds e.g. AWS
- Experience in agile development/SCRUM and continuous delivery processes.
- Technology strategy for Product Integration Platform defined and aligned within Group Technology
- Ensure the delivery of business requirements into the technology roadmap
- Reviewed architecture and solution designs for Product Integration Platform APIs and platforms
- Fluency in the English language
