**Job Purpose**

Through in-field scientific engagement in hematology with healthcare providers and external experts, the Medical Advisor hybrid role fosters a more educated healthcare environment by:
**1.**Responsible for the medical strategy through medical projects including disease awareness, medical education, advisory boards and KOLs and physicians Societies engagement plan.

**2.**Develop and execute effective medical plans and integrated evidence plans by leading assessment of unmet medical needs and scientific strategy by using medical insights from medical projects and gained by MSLs and commercial partners.

**3.**Collaborate closely with the hematology brand team to provide input into medical strategic direction.

**4.**Working together with hematology MSLs to gather valuable insights into the hematology area to better understand patient needs and evidence gaps.

**5.**Contribute on medical governance and compliance oversight for hematology focused Medical and development activities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the development of medical strategies to optimize scientific engagement with external experts.
- Ensure relevant consolidated medical insights are effectively and appropriately shared across the business and strongly represent the medical voice of the external expert and the patient.
- Effectively integrate the hematology MSL team within Medical Affairs team and work collaboratively with all cross-functional business partners to ensure aligned implementation of MSL activities to strategic business plans.
- Work closely with the brand team to ensure optimal alignment and ways of working between Sales and the medical team.
- Act as a mentor to provide on the ground support and advice on topics such as: GSK ways of working, code of practice, GSK processes, MSL resources, decision-making, etc.
- Work closely with MSL team to disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific / therapeutic area and in competitor medicines and hematology.
- Attend hematology scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in a therapy area and to confidently debate and discuss science with external experts as presented at the meeting.
- Ensure compliance of medical projects with GSK standards and policies, and with local codes of practice, guidelines and laws by driving a “can do” culture.

**Basic Requirements**:

- Higher degree in life sciences: PhD, MSc or equivalent
- Previous pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs.
- Previous experience with Hematology
- Strong skills in projects management.
- Effective communication skills at all levels of the business.
- Strong business mindset and ability to balance cross-functional objectives.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Leadership experience in a matrix environment with demonstrated excellence in cross-functional work to drive business focused outcomes.
- Proven track record as an MSL with consistent delivery of core objectives.
- High scientific expertise with established long-term relationships with the hematology expert’s community.
- Effective networking and collaboration skills to achieve business results.
- Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical governance environment.
- Significant operational management experience (i.e. resource, budget, project evaluation)
- Strong negotiation and strategic influencing skills.
- An understanding clinical development, and statistical design and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
