**Backend Tech Lead (Python) - Healthcare**

We’re looking for a Backend Tech Lead (Python) to join a fast-moving team that’s revolutionizing digital healthcare through AI. You’ll lead backend development and architectural decisions for an advanced platform that integrates with EHR systems, reducing administrative load for clinicians and improving patient outcomes.

In this role, you’ll drive technical leadership, own microservices architecture, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our large-scale AI infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and cloud-optimized.

**Responsibilities**
- Own the back-end roadmap, architectural standards, and long-term scalability strategy for our cloud-native platform
- Coach 3-5 engineers through design sessions, code reviews, and pair programming; foster a culture of quality, observability, and continuous improvement
- Evolve our AWS and EKS infrastructure for multi-tenant, multi-region resilience, security, and cost efficiency
- Introduce and refine standards for CI/CD, testing, incident response, and documentation
- Work closely with Product, Data Science, and Clinical SMEs to shape features that delight users and meet regulatory needs

**Requirements**:

- 8+ years building production back-end systems in Python (Asyncio/FastAPI, Celery/RQ, PyTest, mypy)
- 3+ years in a senior or tech-lead role guiding architecture and mentoring engineers
- Deep AWS expertise
- Hands-on Kubernetes know-how: Cluster tuning, service meshes, and runtime debugging
- Proven system-design mastery - you can model data for scale, weigh CAP trade-offs, and sketch event-driven architectures on a whiteboard
- Dev-excellence mindset—clean git history, robust CI/CD, observability (Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry), automated testing, and blameless post-mortems
- Clear, empathetic communication and a track record of cross-functional collaboration
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

**Will be a plus**
- Experience with AI frameworks and libraries
- Knowledge of data science techniques and workflows (data preprocessing, feature engineering, model development)
- Experience integrating AI/ML solutions with production systems
- Experience in healthcare, HL7/FHIR, HIPAA/GDPR compliance
- Background in MLOps, LLM inference, or stream-processing (Kafka/Kinesis)
- Open-source contributions to Python or Kubernetes ecosystems
