Your new role

The Biology, Microbiology, and Clinical Science Manager has end responsibility for all biological, microbiological and clinical testing in support of new ingredient development and product claims for existing and novel companys' Beauty & Personal Care ingredients. In addition, the role will be responsible to drive new product development programs in the area of biological actives and microbiome modulators.
- Single point accountability for study design and data quality & integrity for all in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies to support new ingredient development and claims.
- Develop, communicate, and enforce clear guidelines and standards for all biological and microbiological ingredient testing working directly with commercial, marketing, regulatory/legal and technical stakeholders.
- Act as technical lead in the area of tissue biology, the microbiome, and clinical methods & instrumentation and ensure continuous access to state-of-the-art capabilities.
- Build, maintain and manage network of CRO’s to support new ingredient development and claims.

What you will need to succeed
- PhD degree in biology, microbiology, or related discipline
- 10-15 years’ practical experience in leading in vitro biology and in vivo clinical science at either a B2C cosmetic company/brand and/or cosmetic ingredient supplier
- A deep understanding of and extensive practical experience with skin and tissue biology and microbiology relevant to the development of novel Beauty & Personal Care ingredients and finished goods
- A deep understanding of and extensive practical experience with all aspects of ingredient and finished good claim support including technical, marketing, and regulatory/legal
- Keen awareness of key consumer and market trends in Beauty & Personal Care, specifically in the area of biological actives and the microbiome
- Broad knowledge of cosmetic biological and microbiological actives ingredients market, including key suppliers, benchmark actives for specific benefit areas, and ingredient trends
- A proven record of both technical leadership and effective people management with at least 5 years’ experience of managing medium sized teams. Experience with building new teams and programs from scratch is a big plus
- A combination of technical authority, influencing skills, and emotional intelligence needed to align different functions, partners, and stakeholders along a common set of technical processes and standards
