Firalis S.A. and its affiliate Amoneta Diagnostics are biotechnology companies specialized in biomarker discovery, development, and qualification. Our mission is to improve patient care through cutting-edge diagnostics and precision medicine, with a strong focus on neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and inflammatory diseases.

Firalis develops and manufactures both RUO and CE-IVD kits, offering integrated biomarker solutions from discovery to clinical validation. Our production is conducted under a high-level quality system (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 17025, ISO 14001, and NF S 96-900), ensuring full regulatory compliance for diagnostic use.

Headquartered in Huningue, France, Firalis hosts more than 2,000 m² of R&D and production laboratories. Our Lisbon branch is growing as a strategic R&D hub and innovation driver for both Firalis and Amoneta.

**Main Mission**

As a PhD-level bioinformatician based in Lisbon, you will be at the heart of the company’s data analysis strategy, leading bioinformatics and machine learning efforts to support biomarker discovery. You will collaborate closely with a local bioinformatician and maintain continuous interactions with our international research teams.

**Key responsibilities**
- Lead and conduct bioinformatics analyses across multiple omics platforms (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) to support biomarker discovery and diagnostic development.
- Design, develop, and maintain reproducible bioinformatics pipelines, using workflow managers (e.g., Nextflow) to automate complex analyses.
- Implement advanced machine learning and deep learning models to explore complex biological datasets, including for biomarker identification, patient stratification, and disease progression prediction.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and resource availability.
- Prepare scientific and technical reports and support the drafting of research manuscripts and documentation for internal, regulatory, publication and commercial purposes.
- Ensure data quality, traceability, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO).
- Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams across Firalis and Amoneta, contributing to joint R&D projects and knowledge transfer.
- Engage in continuous scientific and technological monitoring and promote the adoption of innovative methods and tools across the organization.

**Required qualifications and skills**
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in analysing omics data using standard bioinformatics tools.
- Strong programming skills in R and/or Python, and scripting in Bash.
- Proficiency in Linux-based environments and working with HPC or cloud-based infrastructures.
- Experience with workflow managers (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
- Hands-on expertise in machine learning and deep learning applied to biological data, using libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or relevant R packages (e.g., caret, mlr3).
- Solid understanding of statistical models and hypothesis-driven data interpretation.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); proficiency in French is an asset.
- Good knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and familiarity with relevant quality standards.
- Strong teamwork, documentation, and communication skills.
- Background in neuroscience or neurodegenerative disease research is considered a plus.
- Familiarity with biomarker qualification processes or clinical trials is advantageous.

**Working conditions**
- A full-time position based in Lisbon, Portugal, within a growing and dynamic local team.
- Close collaboration with our headquarters in Huningue and other international partners.
- Possibility of hybrid work depending on project needs.

**What we offer**
- A stimulating and collaborative scientific environment.
- Projects with a strong scientific and technological impact.
- Opportunities for continuous training, publication, and innovation.
- An agile, multicultural work dynamic focused on excellence.
