Frontend Software Engineer

This is a remote role, but candidates must be based in Portugal for further consideration.

We are looking for a skilled Frontend Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design and feature development of our platform. You will be responsible for building robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions that power our customers' gifting strategies. You will collaborate closely with other software engineers, product managers, designers, and other business stakeholders, autonomously and as an individual contributor, to deliver the best gifting platform in the world in a scalable and efficient way.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Frontend Development: Design, develop, and maintain responsive, performant, and user-friendly web interfaces for our innovative gifting platform, leveraging React and modern JavaScript practices.
• Technical Leadership: Participate in technical decision-making and contribute to upholding high-quality engineering standards across the team.
• Frontend Practices: Advocate for and implement frontend best practices, such as performance optimization, accessibility, and testing, to ensure application reliability and user experience. Our current tools include Jest and React Testing Library.
• DevOps Practices: Advocate for and implement DevOps best practices, such as monitoring, logging, and incident response, to ensure system reliability and performance. Our current tools include Sentry, DataDog, New Relic, and Sidekiq.

The successful candidate will have:

• Solid Frontend Development Experience: 3+ years of experience in frontend software development within a product-focused company, demonstrating a solid grasp of modern JavaScript, React, and frontend engineering principles.
• API Integration Skills: Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs, handling asynchronous requests, and managing data flow.
• Frontend Infrastructure and Tooling: Experience with Webpack, build tools, and optimizing frontend performance. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for frontend deployments.
• Proactive and Hands-On Mindset: A self-starter who takes initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to solve problems, regardless of complexity or scope.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and resolving complex issues in production and test environments.
• Collaboration and Communication Skills: Strong ability to work effectively in a team environment with engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders.
• Backend Development Skills (nice to have): Basic understanding of backend concepts, experience working with Ruby on Rails, and familiarity with Relational databases and SQL.
