Innovative Opportunity in Aerospace Composites Research

Advancing aviation's sustainability hinges on the rapid development of lighter, more efficient polymer composite structures. However, traditional composite designs impose significant constraints, and current analysis methods often result in conservative designs and time-intensive certification processes. This has limited the weight-saving potential of composite laminates in aircraft structures.

This groundbreaking project aims to unlock the full potential of composite systems, enabling the creation of innovative micro-structures and laminate configurations for aerospace applications. By bridging the gap between material and structural design, the initiative will pave the way for concurrent optimization, resulting in more efficient and sustainable composite aerostructures.

Your Mission

You will conduct experimental research on polymer composites across various scales, employing cutting-edge observation and characterization tools.

Who Were Looking For
  • Academic Background: PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with advanced techniques such as digital image correlation (at various scales), nanoindentation, and fiber push-out testing.
  • Experience: Demonstrated knowledge in testing polymer composite materials and developing analytical models.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Effective team management and leadership abilities.
    • Fluent communication in both Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
