Software Engineering Team Manager, Communications

Squarespace is looking for an Engineering Team Manager to lead a team within the Acuity Scheduling product group. Acuity Scheduling's mission is to help appointment-based businesses start and grow their service by allowing clients to directly schedule appointments, removing administrative burden and giving our users more time to focus on what they love doing. We are a distinct brand and platform within the Squarespace suite of products.

Acuity's Comms and CRM team provides customer communication tools (SMS/emails, reminders, notifications) and maintains the underlying infrastructure that powers customer relationship management in our product. Comms and CRM enables businesses running on Acuity to communicate effectively with their customers at every stage of their journey. 

You will report to a group Engineering Manager and be based in Aveiro, Portugal with a minimum of 3 flexible days per week spent in office. You will be part of Acuity's initial engineering team in the country, and help grow our engineering and company presence in Portugal.

• Manage and mentor a diverse team of experienced software engineering ICs across a spectrum of skills and experience.
• Assume an active role in the career development of direct reports with regular 1:1s, direct feedback, and coaching.
• Exercise technical expertise in reviewing project initiatives, collaborating with a partner from our Product team to decide which new features your team will deliver.
• Advocate for excellence in system design and promote engineering best practices, including automated testing.
• Lead large-scale initiatives that impact millions of users.

• 5+ years of industry experience shipping web applications across large codebases with many contributors.
• 1+ years of experience managing a Product engineering team of four or more engineers.
• An ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through documents and presentations.
• Strong technical foundations to navigate the inherent tradeoffs in decision-making and ensure deliverables are well-tested.
• Professionalism in prioritizing an inclusive culture of psychological safety and technical rigor.
• A team player who can lead by example, including writing and reviewing code as needed for your team.
