Within the sub-modules, we have senior functional leads who are fully responsible for the technical aspects of a complete functional area of the wind turbine. Senior functional leads are critical to the organization as they are the pinnacle of the strategy, roadmap and technical leadership for development teams overseeing those functional areas. This is a position of high responsibility, but also great significance, as senior functional leads are responsible not only for the development, but also for guiding the teams to ensure quality while ensuring the overall coordination of their functional areas within the scope of the entire Vestas turbine software environment.The Technical Management submodule sits within the Vestas Turbine Software organization. The Technical Management submodule works with the overall architecture and software strategy for turbine control, including critical aspects of turbine operation, e.g., the control of the safety systems, implementing and testing software based on requirements with the purpose of preventing turbine structural damage and personnel injuries, all carried out in close collaboration with mechanical and electrical stakeholders. The safety software teams that you will be setting the technical direction for consist of highly skilled, international, experienced engineers who are taking responsibility for all aspects of the safety software deliverables, which are developed at our Porto, Portugal and Aarhus, Denmark locations. ResponsibilitiesYou will report to the module design owner of the Turbine Control Software module as part of the Technical Management team, and will be responsible for:The continued development of safety software processes, including activities to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards such as ISO and IEC 61508Ensuring that safety development processes, strategic roadmap, architecture and quality expectations are metEnsuring that safety software stays competitive by keeping abreast of developments within relevant industries and translating this to a strategy that can be executed by the safety software sub-moduleImplementing safety software modularization in line with the goals of the Vestas modularization strategyParticipate in requirement development and discussions of design considerations for new features within safety softwareGuiding intellectual property development within safety software, including patents and ensuring freedom to operateHave a thorough understanding of the technical domain under your responsibility, together with the architecture and context of the safety software submoduleManage and integrate the technical submodule roadmap, following Vestas' modularization strategy, to improve work and enhance reusability across wind turbine platformsQualifications10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years of experience working in safety software development and technical leadership rolesBasic understanding and experience in Agile software development frameworkDemonstrated effective leadership in technical roles within software development domainsEffective communication skills and are fluent in English, both written and spokenAspiration and willingness to learn about wind turbine design processes from a software engineering perspective, and you have a continuous improvement mindset, conscientiously & creatively contributing to encourage Turbine Control Software's continuous improvement initiativesCompetenciesAlignment with Vestas Values: Passion, Accountability, Collaboration and SimplicityA customer-oriented mindsetAbility to build trust with colleagues and persuade stakeholders through your behaviorDriven by results and by accomplishing tasks efficientlyOpen-minded and attracted by an international environmentSolid leadership skills and capable of acting as a motivatorYou are innovative, customer-focused and committed to qualityWhat we offerWe offer you a role with technical responsibility for an important function area of the software system, in a highly collaborative team, which will empower you to make your own decisions and implement your ideas.You will be able to build a large network across a large and global organization with significant opportunities for cross-disciplinary and personal development.
