Position Overview

We are seeking a Legal & Compliance Officer for our Lisbon office to support the firm's legal and regulatory activities across jurisdictions. Reporting to the Legal Director, the candidate will ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, manage contractual and corporate matters, and contribute to maintaining a strong governance framework. The ideal profile combines legal expertise with experience in compliance within the financial or investment management sector, particularly in AML, KYC, data protection, and MiFID II, with excellent communication skills in English and Portuguese.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct AML/KYC reviews and oversee onboarding of investors, clients, and counterparties.
  • Prepare and maintain KYC documentation for the company´s vehicles.
  • Coordinate and supervise internal and external audits (Compliance, AML, and Data Protection).
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements, including regular policy updates and risk assessments.
  • Oversee risk management processes and contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual compliance and risk reports.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents (including NDAs, and service agreements) and support corporate governance activities such as board documentation and statutory filings for the Portuguese entities.
  • Provide legal and regulatory advice on corporate, commercial, and investment management matters, ensuring alignment with group-wide legal standards and applicable EU and Portuguese regulations.
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory authorities in Portugal and other relevant jurisdictions, coordinating communications and submissions as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles within a fund, regulated entities, financial institution, or law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of AML regulations, KYC processes, data protection, and MiFID II requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Location: Lisbon, Portugal.
  • Start date: Q1 2026.
