We are looking for a
Senior Data Scientist
to join a development-focused project within the Energy sector.

This role offers the opportunity to design and implement advanced analytical and AI-driven solutions, working with structured and unstructured data and integrating Generative AI into real-world business workflows.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary and international teams, contributing to high-impact projects using modern machine learning frameworks and cloud-based analytics platforms, preferably Azure.

Role overview

In this position, you will design, develop, and deploy highly complex analytical models, including combinatorial approaches and deep learning solutions. You will work hands-on with Python and R, leverage advanced PaaS services, and integrate GenAI capabilities such as LLMs and diffusion models into applications like text generation, summarization, contextual classification, image creation, and intelligent copilots.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement complex analytical models on structured and unstructured data.

Develop solutions using Python and R and advanced analytics libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, Caffe, and PyTorch.

Build and maintain robust machine learning pipelines, including data preprocessing, model fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment via APIs.

Integrate Generative AI models (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral, T5, diffusion models) into production-ready workflows.

Apply appropriate evaluation metrics (BLEU, ROUGE, perplexity) to ensure model quality and reliability.

Deploy, monitor, and manage the full lifecycle of machine learning models in production environments.

Collaborate with global teams to deliver high-quality, scalable analytical solutions.

Required skills and qualifications

Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Strong experience developing machine learning projects using Python, R, or SAS.

Proven experience deploying models to production and managing the full model lifecycle.

Solid knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to work collaboratively in international and cross-functional teams.

Strong commitment to quality and best engineering practices.

Nice to have

Experience in the Energy or Utilities sector and knowledge of GDPR.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence.

Experience in strategic or large-scale projects.

Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Spanish.

Work model: hybrid, 2 to 3 days per week onsite in Lisbon.
