Head of Engineering

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the technology organization of a partner company dealing with payments, drive product delivery, and continuously evolve our technical platform.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with experience structuring and scaling engineering departments, improving delivery efficiency, and maintaining a high technical standard across development, architecture, QA, and DevOps.

Leadership & Organization

• Lead and organize multiple engineering teams to deliver product features and maintain platform reliability.
• Define team structures, workflows, and processes to maximize productivity and accountability.
• Identify inefficiencies in engineering operations and implement process improvements.
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization focused on ownership and delivery excellence.

Delivery & Execution

• Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of platform and product initiatives.
• Balance short-term business objectives with long-term technical sustainability.
• Lead triage, root cause analysis, and resolution of technical incidents.
• Establish clear delivery KPIs and continuously improve performance metrics.

Architecture & Technical Excellence

• Oversee system architecture, technical design, and development standards.
• Maintain scalability, reliability, and performance of core systems.
• Drive engineering best practices across all teams, ensuring code quality and maintainability.
• Engage hands-on when required to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges.

Testing, QA & Efficiency

• Define and refine testing and QA strategies to balance speed and quality.
• Improve automation frameworks, test coverage, and regression practices.
• Ensure QA plans and validation processes are efficient and aligned with delivery goals.
• Foster collaboration between development and QA to enhance release reliability.

Stakeholder Management

• Communicate effectively with product, business, and operational stakeholders.
• Translate technical priorities and risks into clear business terms.
• Take full accountability for delivery outcomes and ensure transparency across teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, or Technical Director.
• Strong background in software development and system architecture.
• Demonstrated success in improving engineering efficiency and organizational maturity.
• Deep understanding of QA methodologies, automation, and testing frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, , GraphQL, microservices, AWS, Kubernetes, databases (MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, ClickHouse), and DevOps practices.
• Experience in payments, PSP integrations, or fintech is a strong advantage.
