As a Senior VAT Analyst at CostaTerra, you will play a pivotal role in contributing for the handling of the various VAT related responsibilities and strategy of the group, while part of a dynamic team and work environment.

What you will do?

• Technical and Advisory Tax Compliance: Efficiently handle the technical and advisory VAT compliance requirements of the Group, liaising with other teams (finance, legal, etc.) and tax advisors when necessary.
• VAT Compliance: Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other related obligations. Ensure compliance and reporting obligations are met timely and accurately. Support on the preparation of workpapers, schedules, calculations and other items related to VAT filings, estimated payments, including controlling all the deadlines and filings.
• Transfer Pricing: Assist in the implementation and definition of the transfer pricing strategy of the Group.
• Tax Due Diligence: Assist on the preparation of tax due diligence reports for specific projects undertaken by the Group (in Portugal and internationally), with focus on VAT and indirect taxes.
• Tax Audit and Litigation: Assist in tax audit and litigation processes with the Tax Authorities. Ensure compliance and effective resolution of any tax-related disputes, with focus on VAT. Perform technical research supporting tax positions taken in tax filings, including drafting written memorandums for international tax technical matters.
• Tax Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Tax Managers to develop and refine the Group's tax strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory changes.
• Strategic Business Development: Identify and develop new strategic business opportunities related to tax planning and compliance. Help shape the Group's tax strategy for future growth.
• Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with current tax, legal, and business trends relevant to the Group's operations. Provide insights and recommendations based on the latest industry knowledge.
• Corporate Project Support: Collaborate on all necessary corporate projects, which may include the preparation of tax models and projections, review of agreements, and other related tasks.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments related to tax compliance and identify potential areas of exposure. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize tax-related risks.

What are we looking for?

• Degree or Master qualification in Economics, Management, Law, Accounting or Finance
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in VAT, preferably in a multinational company environment and/or international tax advisory firm.
• Experience in VAT compliance and advisory projects.
• Transfer pricing and customs experience is a plus.
• Good knowledge of tax legislation in Portugal and good awareness of international tax developments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards is highly valued.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
• Excellent problem-solving and risk assessment skills.
• Good communication and team player.
• Proactive and results-oriented approach to tax strategy and compliance.
• Attention to detail, to produce high quality output.
