Since 2019, the financial sector has been positioned as a key driver of the global economy's transition to a low-carbon model. The potential financial impacts of climate change, and of the environmental and social disruptions it causes, put environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks at the center of the conversation, from board meetings and strategic functions to risk management areas, business teams and data management areas.

Financial institutions have the mandate to assess, monitor and mitigate ESG risks while being one of the main partners of their clients during their own transition, by offering sustainable finance solutions that address their specific challenges

The ESG Risk Solutions team at PwC offers the opportunity to engage in significant and challenging projects in the financial sector, fostering the development of business solutions aimed at improving governance, risk quantification, risk monitoring, and the efficiency of internal processes. From design to implementation, we support our clients in developing and integrating mechanisms, processes and solutions to prepare for current and future regulatory requirements regarding ESG risks, and to embrace sustainable finance opportunities.

We increasingly seek to combine financial sector expertise with business competencies and technical skills on climate, environment and social-related topics. Specifically, we aim to strengthen our team with profiles with academic background on and/or experience with ESG in business and/or financial contexts, sustainability and transition plans, taxonomy implementation, process review, are only examples of such skills – we will be happy to hear you on your ESG-related competencies and experience in such contexts.

Responsibilities

• Developing customized ESG performance assessment methods for various activity sectors.
• Supporting banks and other financial institutions on developing and implementing ESG risk management processes and strategic planning.
• Reviewing and improving internal governance, processes and policies of customers on ESG risks matters.
• Performing stress testing exercises and analyzing the interaction between ESG risks and traditional financial risks.

Profile

• Knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:

-Sustainability, through consulting services and/or projects as a member of departments in various sectors such as agriculture, industry or real estate.

-Environmental sciences and/or engineering.

-Financial sector, particularly in banking, in areas such as risk management, KYC/onboarding, or compliance.

• Familiarity with ESG regulations and frameworks that allows for easy comprehension and synthesis of regulatory and technical documentation.
• Analytical mindset, capable of understanding and addressing complex problems related to strategic planning, business development, internal governance and operational efficiency.
• Motivated, committed and autonomous, capable of managing communication with both colleagues and clients.
• Genuine interest in topics related to sustainable development and the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects into strategy, risk management and business development.
• The drive and mindset to thrive in a dynamic, customer-led environment—where agility drives action and planning follows purpose.
