In search of a Senior Accountant in CPT

High-performing EPCM businesses don't run on bookkeeping - they run on financial control, project visibility, and disciplined reporting across complex, multi-phase work. This role sits at the centre of that engine. It is designed for a Senior Accountant who understands that accuracy alone is not enough; insight, control, and commercial awareness are what protect margins and enable scale.
This position plays a critical role in financial reporting, project accounting, and compliance within an engineering-led environment. Working closely with project managers, procurement, and finance leadership, the Senior Accountant ensures that financial data is reliable, projects are tracked correctly, and decision-makers have clarity over cost, cash flow, and risk.

Duties:

Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS / GAAP
  • Manage general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Oversee tax compliance including VAT, corporate tax, and withholding tax
  • Liaise with external auditors and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal control requirements
Project Accounting & Cost Control
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), revenue recognition, and project profitability
  • Track project costs, accruals, and variances against approved budgets
  • Partner with project managers to provide financial insight and expenditure control
  • Support contract management, billing accuracy, claims, and cost recovery
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and bank reconciliations
  • Manage multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange exposure
  • Support optimisation of cash management and treasury processes
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
  • Ensure timely processing of supplier invoices, payments, and collections
  • Monitor client billing cycles, payment terms, and credit risk
  • Resolve supplier and client account discrepancies in collaboration with stakeholders
ERP Systems & Process Improvement
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data within ERP systems
  • Support automation and process improvements to improve reporting efficiency
  • Assist with system upgrades, integrations, and finance-related digital initiatives
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years' accounting experience
  • Proven experience within an EPCM, construction, engineering, or project-based environment
  • Strong exposure to project accounting, WIP reporting, and cost management
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar
  • Exposure to multi-currency environments and international accounting standards
