We are exploring the possibility of building a Portugal based mid to senior engineering team for a leading DACH IoT Solution technology company operating in the logistics and supply chain digitalization sector.

Your Key Focus Areas

As a Backend Software Engineer, you would join an interdisciplinary agile product team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed backend services that process real-time data from IoT devices at global scale.

You will work on:

• Building scalable backend services handling millions of data points daily
• Designing and implementing RESTful APIs for fleet management platforms
• Developing data processing pipelines for real-time asset tracking
• Working with modern cloud-native technologies and microservices architecture
• Collaborate with your team to design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain new features and services
• Actively participate in technical discussions around architecture, solutions, and technology choices
• Proactively identify improvements, tackle technical debt, and enhance documentation
• Continuously improve code quality and maintainability
• Stay current with latest technologies and share knowledge with the team
• Act as an onboarding buddy for new team members
• Participate in agile development activities (stand-ups, planning, demos, retrospectives)

Your Expertise

• Strong experience with Kotlin or Java for backend development
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems architecture and design patterns
• Professional experience with:
  • SQL databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • NoSQL databases (DynamoDB or similar)
  • Message queuing systems (SQS, Apache Kafka)
  • Publish/Subscribe patterns (SNS, Kafka)
• Good understanding of RESTful API design principles
• Experience with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred)
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies (TDD encouraged)
• Familiarity with containerized workloads (Docker) and Kubernetes
• Linux/Unix shell knowledge is a strong plus
• PHP experience is a plus
• Gradle knowledge is a plus

• Experience working in agile/scrum environments
• Good algorithmic knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (working language)
• Self-organized and comfortable working independently
