GSM-R OPTIMIZATION ENGINEER (REMOTE ANYWHERE) Portuguese company hires for remote position.
Location: Remote anywhere.
Work Model: Fully remote.
Language Requirements: English — minimum B2+ mandatory.

About The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced GSM-R Optimization Engineer to support railway communication network projects. You will improve radio coverage, quality, and reliability, ensuring network performance meets railway operational and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform GSM-R optimization activities covering coverage, quality, capacity, and interference analysis.
Monitor network KPIs, analyze drive test results, and post-process measurement data to identify improvement opportunities.
Investigate and resolve radio performance issues affecting railway operations.
Optimize radio parameters, conduct neighbor audits, review frequency plans, and improve handover performance.
Support network acceptance, modernization, and expansion projects in collaboration with planning, implementation, and operations teams.
Prepare performance reports and optimization recommendations, supporting customer technical discussions and project reviews.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in GSM/GSM-R optimization.
Strong understanding of GSM-R architecture and railway telecommunications standards.
Experience in coverage and capacity optimization, handover optimization, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
Strong knowledge of KPI monitoring, radio troubleshooting, and drive test evaluation.
Experience with railway operational requirements and mission-critical communications.
Previous involvement in railway infrastructure projects. Ideal Candidate Profile An engineer with practical radio optimization experience and a clear understanding of railway communication requirements. Able to investigate performance issues, translate measurement data into corrective actions, and communicate recommendations effectively to customers and technical teams, with a focus on network reliability.
