Safetykleen is a global leader in industrial cleaning and surface treatment solutions, helping businesses improve safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance through innovative and sustainable service and we are looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team and support our continued growth in a dynamic, multinational environment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with Corporate and Controlling.Professional ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience in accounting roles, including:Monthly and annual closing activitiesGeneral Accounting: account reconciliations, journal entries, depreciation, provisions, accruals, and correctionsP&L analysis: variance analysis, cost monitoring, margin validation, and support to ControllingAccounts Payable (AP): vendor management, invoice validation, payment preparation, reconciliations, and balance follow-upExperience in a multinational environment or interaction with Shared Service Centers is a plusKey Responsibilities1. Monthly and Annual ClosingExecute monthly and yearly accounting close in line with corporate deadlinesPrepare monthly journals (accruals, reclassifications, provisions)Review balance sheet accounts and perform reconciliations2. General AccountingEnsure compliance with IFRS and local accounting standardsMaintain accurate, consistent, and auditable accounting recordsSupport internal and external auditsPerform inventory analysis and interpret variances3. P&L AnalysisReview monthly financial performanceExplain significant variances versus budget and previous periodsInteract with FP&A teams and department managers4. Accounts Payable (AP)Ensure accurate processing of supplier invoices and paymentsMonitor discrepancies, credit notes, and reconciliationsIdentify and implement AP process improvements when neededPreparation and analysis of Purchase Orders (POs)5. Compliance & Internal ControlEnsure compliance with corporate policies, tax, and legal requirementsContinuously improve internal controls and accounting processesTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of ERP systems (D365 or similar)Advanced Excel and Power BI skillsSolid understanding of IFRS and Portuguese tax legislationAbility to prepare corporate financial reportingSoft SkillsHigh level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detailStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work autonomously and meet strict deadlinesStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multinational teamsLanguagesFluent English C1 level (written and spoken) – essential for reporting, corporate interaction, and auditsSpanish is a plusLocation: Azeitão HQ
