About the Client We are supporting one of our clients, a global AI-driven technology department , in expanding its engineering team in Portugal. The team develops scalable, production-grade AI applications built on proprietary machine learning models, with a strong focus on performance, data efficiency, and architectural excellence. The engineering organization counts 23 engineers across Lisbon and Porto , and about 20 globally (in the UK and Paris). The Role We are hiring an experienced Python Developer to join the AI engineering team based in Lisbon . You'll play a key role in developing and scaling backend applications that power AI-driven products with real business impact. This position focuses primarily on backend engineering , contributing to high-performance, distributed systems used by thousands of users worldwide. Your Responsibilities Build scalable backend applications on top of proprietary AI models. Design and develop APIs and services supporting large-scale synchronous workloads. Optimize data structures and memory usage for maximum performance. Collaborate with engineering teams in Portugal, the UK, and Paris on AI product development. Deliver production-ready applications with measurable business impact. What We Value Strong Python programming skills with a focus on software engineering (not just scripting). Experience with APIs, data pipelines, concurrency, and scalable architectures . Curiosity and passion for AI applications, infrastructure, and real-world implementations . Team spirit and autonomy to work effectively in a hybrid/remote setup . Hiring Process Online test – initial screening. Technical interview – deep dive on programming and system design.
