Title - Senior QA EngineerLocation - Portugal (remote)We're engaged with an exciting Series A insuretech who are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help maintain and elevate the quality of a modern, cloud-native software platform. This is a hands-on role with a balanced mix of automation and manual testing, working closely with Product and Engineering teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.You won't have line management responsibility, but you'll play a key role in mentoring and supporting another QA Engineer, sharing best practices and helping shape how quality is embedded across teams. The role can grow into more leadership as everything scales.What you'll be doingDelivering a balanced QA approach across manual, exploratory, and automated testingDesigning, building, and maintaining automated test suites alongside hands-on manual testingWorking with Product Managers and Engineers to define acceptance criteria and test scenariosExecuting and improving regression, integration, system, and UAT testingIntegrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support fast, reliable releasesCarrying out API, performance, and basic security testing where appropriateIdentifying quality risks early and working collaboratively to resolve themSupporting and mentoring other QA Engineers through pairing, reviews, and knowledge sharingContributing to quality metrics such as defect trends, test coverage, and automation effectivenessChampioning a pragmatic, quality-first mindset across delivery teamsWhat we're looking for5+ years' experience in Quality Assurance within modern software teamsProven experience working across both manual and automated testingHands-on knowledge of automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or AppiumStrong exploratory testing skills and a user-focused testing mindsetExperience working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.)Solid experience with API testing (Postman, RestAssured) and performance testing tools (JMeter, Locust)Experience in Agile / Scrum environmentsBackground testing cloud-native, SaaS applicationsAwareness of security testing principles and compliance considerations (ISO, SOC2, GDPR)Strong communication skills and confidence collaborating across Product and EngineeringA practical, detail-oriented approach with a strong sense of ownership
