Product Development Engineer
- Mobility 📍 Maia, Porto At BeyondComposite, we design and manufacture advanced composite and thermoplastic solutions for the mobility and defence sectors, where failure is not an option: trains, buses, heavy and special vehicles, vessels and protection systems. We are strengthening our Engineering team in Maia and are looking for someone who wants to see their ideas leave the screen and take shape on the shop floor at our plant in Grijó. The challenge You will play a central role across the entire life cycle of new products, from the first sketch to final validation in real operating conditions. You will work with autonomy and technical ownership, side by side with our CTO, Production, technology partners and customers. What you will do
• Design new composite products and systems for mobility and special vehicle protection, from requirements definition to industrialisation.
• Find the right balance between weight, strength, durability, cost and sustainability.
• Select materials and support structural design and numerical simulation.
• Define how it gets made: processes, prototyping, demonstrators and production launch.
• Plan and follow mechanical, environmental and functional test campaigns, analyse failures and improve the design.
• Support product qualification and certification, and lead the technical side of projects, including innovation and funded projects. What we are looking for
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Engineering.
• Around 5 years of experience in industrial product development, ideally with composite materials.
• Strong skills in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent) and knowledge of structural simulation (FEA).
• Experience in experimental validation, industrialisation and Design for Manufacturing.
• Autonomy, initiative and a hands-on mindset: you enjoy being close to the product, the shop floor and the testing. Nice to have
• Experience in the mobility, railway, automotive, heavy or special vehicle sectors.
• Involvement in new product launches. Why BeyondComposite?
• Real impact: here, your work shows in the final product.
• You will follow the product from concept to production, not just one phase.
• You will work with cutting-edge composite and thermoplastic technologies.
• You will join a close-knit team where good ideas reach decision-makers quickly. Ready for the challenge? Send your CV to hr@beyondcomposite.com #Engineering #Composites #ProductDevelopment #Mobility #Defence #Hiring #BeyondComposite
