We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at a high-end fine dining restaurant located in the beautiful city of Funchal, Portugal. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, menu development, and kitchen operations.
Responsibilities
Develop and create innovative and high-quality menus that reflect the restaurant's concept and cuisine
Plan and organize daily operations in the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and service
Supervise and train kitchen staff on proper food handling techniques, recipes, and presentation
Ensure consistency in food quality and presentation by conducting regular taste tests
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies to maintain stock levels while minimizing waste
Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by following health and safety regulations
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth flow of service and excellent guest experience
Manage food costs by creating budget-friendly recipes without compromising on quality
Requirements
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a fine dining restaurant or luxury hotel setting
In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
Creativity in menu development with an eye for detail in presentation
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams towards excellence
Exceptional time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members from different departments
Qualifications
Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sous Chef or 2 years as an Executive Chef
Fluent in English (Portuguese is a plus)
