Under the terms of Order no. **, of 20 November, by delegation of powers, the Director of the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon, Prof. Dr José Júlio Alves Alferes, hereby announces that, by order of 03/09/2026, is open for a period of 15 days, from the date of publication of this Notice in Diário da República, an international call for tenders, with internal reference " Inv.
Jun.*-DQ", for the recruitment of 1 Junior Researcher in the scientific area of Biotechnology, a sub-field of Bioprocessing Technologies, with emphasis on the Utilisation of biomass for the production of biomaterials, under an indefinite employment contract, pursuant to Decree-Law No. *, of 29 August, amended by Law No. *, of 19 July, within the scope of project IASIS – Remediation of contaminated and saline land using industrial crops and the production of biomass for high-value applications, funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme, Grant Agreement No. *.

I - Workplace
The place of work will be at the premises of the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University, located on Caparica Campus, at Department of Chemistry, at MEtRICs – Centre for Mechanical Engineering and Resource Sustainability.
The employee will make all the journeys, in Portugal or abroad, inherent to their duties or necessary to carry out their activity.
II - Activities and function
The selected candidate will perform the duties of Junior Researcher and will carry out the following tasks:
Data collection to analyse the sustainability of the cultivation and processing of energy crops on contaminated or saline soils;
assessment of the impact of industrial crop production on contaminated or saline soils in terms of its effects on soil, water, biodiversity and the landscape;
Development of guidance for farmers on contaminated and saline soils;
engagement with farmingcommunities and agricultural cooperatives;
Production of biomaterials from the protein cake of oilseed crops;
production of nanocellulose and reinforcement of bioplastics from industrial crops;
study of the reinforcement of biocomposites with lignocellulosic fibres.
Assessment of the environmental impact of processing industrial crops grown on marginal soils;
Technical and scientific publications and dissemination of the project;
Assistance withproject management activities, including the preparation of reports and deliverables.
The definition of the position is based on the remuneration levels of the categories listed in Decree-Law No. * of 29 August, amended by Law No. * of 19 July, and in accordance with Regulatory Decree No. 11-A/ of 29 December, corresponding to the 1st remuneration position, remuneration level 33, which corresponds to the amount of €2,**.
IV - Modality and duration
The opening of this tender procedure is intended for the selection of a doctoral candidate to carry out scientific research activities under an uncertain fixed-term employment contract, the basis of the contract being the performance of a specific, precisely defined and non-durable service, the contract being compulsorily financed regardless of its origin;
The fixed-term contract will last for the time necessary to carry out the project, 12 months, or for as long as the respective justification persists, but may not exceed the maximum limit of 6 years, as provided for in article 6(3) of Decree-Law no. * of 29 August.
