As Head of Industrial Turbine Controls in Lisbon, you will combine people leadership, engineering governance, and project management within our industrial steam turbine business.

You will lead and develop the Controls Engineering team in Lisbon, while overseeing the successful execution of project-specific Controls scopes, from project handover through engineering and procurement support to FAT, commissioning support, handover, and project closure.

Working in an international environment, you will act as a key interface between customers, Project Management, Commercial Project Management, Engineering, Sales, Service, R&D, suppliers, commissioning teams, and our global STG Controls and turbine workshop locations.

You will be part of an internationally positioned Controls Engineering organization headquartered in Erlangen, Germany. Close collaboration and continuous alignment with the Erlangen organization will be an important part of your role, ensuring consistent standards, efficient project execution, and strong cooperation across locations. Your focus will be on delivering safe, standardized, high-quality, cost-efficient, and schedule-compliant Controls solutions, while continuously developing the capabilities, standards, tools, and working methods of your team. How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Controls Engineering team , ensuring strong collaboration and alignment with the global STG Controls organization.
  • Oversee the execution of industrial steam turbine Controls projects, including scope, planning, milestones, deliverables, risks, changes, costs, quality, and stakeholder communication.
  • Drive engineering excellence by harmonizing standards, architectures, templates, workflows, tools, and reusable Controls solutions.
  • Coordinate technical requirements related to control systems, automation, HMI, network architecture, cybersecurity, documentation, system interfaces, and commissioning.
  • Ensure reliable delivery of engineering documentation, hardware and software, FAT readiness, commissioning support, and project closure in line with contractual, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Strengthen resource and workload management, competency development, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Foster effective collaboration across global engineering locations and contribute to the continuous development of our international Controls project execution model.

What You Bring

  • A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or another comparable technical field.
  • Several years of professional experience in areas such as Controls Engineering, automation, industrial steam turbines, power generation, system engineering, project management, or technical team leadership.
  • Solid understanding of industrial turbine Controls, DCS, PLC, HMI, network architecture, industrial communication, cybersecurity, instrumentation interfaces, engineering workflows, FAT, and commissioning requirements.
  • Experience with platforms and tools such as T3000, PCS7, SIMATIC, S7, COMOS, EPLAN, Configuration Management systems, or comparable industrial Controls and engineering solutions would be an advantage.
  • Several years of project management experience with the ability to manage scope, schedules, costs, risks and opportunities, customer requirements, engineering deliverables, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to coach, develop, motivate, and guide people while ensuring reliable operational delivery and effective resource planning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, customer, supplier, service, commissioning, and management functions.
  • A structured and proactive working style, strong ownership and decision‑making skills, strategic thinking, and the motivation to drive standardization, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Fluent Portuguese and English , both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel depending on project and business requirements (around 25%).
