Machine Learning Researcher | IS Team

is looking for a researcher specializing in Machine Learning (ML) to join the Group.
The job offer is focused on the following tasks:
- Research and develop techniques on topics related to Responsible AI, namely on Bias/Fairness, Robustness, and Explainability. More specifically:
- Study and implement a framework for bias detection and mitigation, including techniques based on counterfactuals;
- Explore methodologies for improved understanding and interpretation of outliers and rare cases, contributing to Fraunhofer AICOS’s ZEBRA framework;
- Explore methodologies for concept understanding and automatic extraction from data to improve model explainability;
- Study and implement elements related to Responsible AI to include in Model Cards, promoting transparency.
- Employ and develop best practices of professional data science and machine learning, including the development and deployment stages;
- Write comprehensive reports on approaches tested and results obtained;
- Share your knowledge with others by giving talks and preparing research proposals, project deliverables and scientific papers.
Academic Qualifications:
Academic Master’s degree in the area of Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
Requirements:
- Excellent Python programming skills;
- Demonstrated Machine Learning background;
- Expertise in programming with widespread AI Frameworks (e.g., Sklearn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch);
- Experience in topics related to Responsible AI;
- Excellent Portuguese and English communication skills (spoken and written).
