BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key responsibilities
- Manufacturing engineer developing and optimizing large volume production manufacturing solutions for new electrification products.
- Ensure that manufacturing best practices and lessons learned are implemented into new designs.
- Lead process standard development, definition, documentation and deployment.
- Work within Manufacturing Engineering teams: multi-regional Global team and plant team.
- Lead production Equipment specifications definition and the associated sourcing process.
- Follow up machine projects with external suppliers, from design to qualification. Bring new Equipment in plant according to specification, time and budget.
- Lead/Support production plant for problem solving in manufacturing
- Lead in process documentation release: PFD's, PFMEA's & PCP's
- Lead new business pursuit by providing guidance and estimates for manufacturing process and cost.
- Owns manufacturing solution from initial business case to production
- Lead and develop flexible manufacturing systems specifications to meet internal & customer requirements
- Lead the equipment sourcing process and Machine Specifications
- Lead manufacturing equipment development in accordance to project timing and business case assumptions
- Work with Build Technicians on initial customer & validation samples
- Assist in training of production operators and maintenance personnel on production equipment
- Focus on quality of products produced in the production systems
- Work in team environment with Quality and Application Engineers on current production issues and future customer programs.
- Streamlining the assembly process to reduce bottlenecks, ensuring a smooth transition from assembly to final quality checks at the EOL., including flash and FAZIT processes.
- Upholding the highest standards of quality by overseeing rigorous inspections and coordinating with the EOL team for final approvals.
- Implementing continuous training programs to elevate the skill set of our workforce, directly impacting productivity and reducing error rates
- Acting as the key liaison between the production floor and upper management, ensuring that both strategic objectives and ground-level feedback are effectively communicated
- Identify safety equipment and provide safety training on production processes.
- Travel to suppliers to monitor development activities
- Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
- Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
- Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
- Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
Education & Experience
- Master of Sciences in Mechanical, Eletronics or Automation Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience of Manufacturing Engineering in automotive or mass production environment
- Ability to develop most effective teams
- Experiences in leading teams (plus)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus)
- Solid understanding of Engineering financials (Cap-Ex Planning and equipment costing)
- Experience in high volume manufacturing
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization
- Multi-site or multi-customer experience highly preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbal and written.
- Analytical, technical, and statistical skills
- Good problem solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization
- Results oriented
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Portuguese
- Availability for international Business travels
