We're on the lookout for an Optoelectronic Engineer specializing in Prototyping & Instrumentation to join our dynamic team at Seedsight. Our mission is to revolutionize agriculture and food commodities trading and processing, and we need your expertise to make it happen. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in developing and refining our cutting-edge technology, particularly in the realm of photonics and
optoelectronics.

Your Role in Detail / What's On Your Plate?
• Lead the development and prototyping of hardware components for our technology platform, focusing on optoelectronic systems and instrumentation related to optical fibers.
• Design, fabricate, and test optical sensing approaches to enhance our technology platform, ensuring reliability and accuracy in data acquisition.
• Utilize your expertise in photonics and optoelectronics to develop innovative solutions for capturing and processing optical data and signals.
• Design, build, and validate experimental setups and instrumentation for testing and characterization.
• Prototype electronics layout (going through the hardware development cycle involving concept design, system requirements, component selection, Schematic and PCB layout, assembly drawings).
• Development and assistance implementation of prototype IoT devices’ communication protocols.
• Conduct engineering testing including test and evaluation methodologies, protocols, and procedures.
• Support the development of prototypes and devices.
• Equipment, suppliers, and material procurement.
• Collaborate closely with our team to understand project requirements and translate them into practical hardware solutions (i.e., integrate optoelectronic components into our existing systems and platforms).
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in optoelectronics and instrumentation, applying new methodologies and technologies to improve our products and capabilities.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.

Requisitos• Demonstrate a passion for optoelectronics and instrumentation, with a desire to make a meaningful impact in the agriculture industry.
• Possess proven experience in prototyping and instrumentation related to optical fibers, with expertise in optoelectronic systems design and testing.
• Previous experience in Embedded Systems and Control Software.
• Experience with embedded software development in C or C++.
• Knowledge about embedded platforms, Device drivers, and microcontrollers.
• Hands-on experience with sensors and sensor fusion.
• Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g., IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 2G/3G/4G).
• Experience with low-level communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN.
• Background in electronics and digital acquisition.
• Experience in PCB design, components, and cable assembly, and basic CAD experience.
• Experience with IoT device communication through ModBus/IP, MQTT, FreeRTOS.
• Have experience in hardware prototyping, including component selection, fabrication, and testing.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Communicate fluently in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:
• Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Physics, or a related field.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in optoelectronic engineering, with a focus on prototyping and instrumentation.
• Demonstrate a strong portfolio showcasing your projects and contributions to hardware development.
• Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment is a plus.
