Junior Accountant

We are looking for a Junior Accountant. This person will be responsible for assisting in the efforts and results of the financial department, and reporting to the Financial Controller regarding all financial and accounting activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Assist in month-end closing activities, such as reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare and maintain financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Contribute accurately to the accounting activities of all entities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all accounting topics, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
• Support external audits and examinations, providing documentation and assistance as required.
• Process accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently, including employee expense processing.
• Maintain an active supplier spend list and ensure coding to correct suppliers and departments.
• Handle payment processing and cash management in the accounts payable process to ensure timely and accurate payments.
• Handle other ad hoc projects as needed to ensure flexibility and adaptability.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement, implementing solutions to streamline workflows.
• Stay updated on accounting principles and industry trends to maintain best practices and compliance.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Accounting; Finance or related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience (preferably with 2+ years of relevant month-end close experience or accounts payable).
• Strong Excel is required and accounting software knowledge (Xero ideally).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to take on new challenges and learn.
• Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Edtech/SaaS experience (preferred).
• CPA or relevant certification (preferred but not required).
